Minecraft 1.17 – Caves and Cliffs Part 1 was released on June 8, 2021. Our world on 1.16 had largely been explored in the Overworld, Nether and The End. We had built almost everything we wanted to, and interest to continue playing was waning.
Because of this, the decision was made to reroll the world with the Caves and Cliffs release. Although it is possible to upgrade an older world to 1.17, any explored area would remain the same, so we would miss out on many of the amazing new features.
The old world files are available here, for anyone who is interested in checking out what we did. Please keep in mind this was a PaperMC server, so the world files are in separate folders. It may be needed to re-combine them to run the world on a vanilla server.
I’ve spun up a new server running vanilla Minecraft 1.17 for now. We will add plugins and convert to PaperMC likely once it is tested.
